Ode to Angamma
Precious souls
Pressganged into slavery.
By the overlords
Of the British Raj
Aah Angamma
Your enduring courage,
I kneel before.
With Gratitude.
Changing my line of ancestry
Forever.
I see you.
I experience the dusty trip of bullock cart from village
To the distant city of Madras
I carry the memories
Of your arduous journey
Loaded in dungeons
Of hideous slave ships.
Your bridge of memory
Has united me with
The cradle of all humanity.
All biodiversity
Of all Life.
As I drink the nectar of the wisdom
Of my ancestors
I quench the fires of my own ignorance.
I slay the demons of arrogance
Taming my anger
Into ploughshares of Peace
As the alchemy of Fear to Love
Manifests.
On this day of memory
Began by those steps
One hundred and sixty two years ago
My Spirit recognises the
Absolute Truth.
That all our paths of Life lead
To the same Divine Source.
🙏💚❤️💙
