Listening to scientists
Born of an arrogance
Of divining powers.
In an industry commoditised
Financialised.
Incentivised
To profit from dis-ease.
I wonder.
Aah you consiglieres
Of Big Pharma.
Whose roots are the cesspool
Of ancestral blood of fossil fuel.
Hath the thirty pieces of silver
Sufficient to betray
The sacred Hippocratic Oath.
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science.
That warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
So where is the wisdom, dear scientist
When you ridicule indigenous therapies
That have treated people for millennia.
When you ridicule, demonise and assassinate
Freedom of speech
Of those who differ with you.
Is not science the study of the unknown?
Is not our ignorance greater than our knowledge?
Whose science is in the room?
Whose voice is unheard?
Whose presence is unseen?
These questions pray for an answer.
Not the hubris of conceited opinion.
So dear scientist
I chose the voice inside of me.
My intuition.
That my body is my pharmacy
That my food is my medicine
That my Spirit is immortally cognisant.
That wisdom conquers knowledge.
As knowledge triumphs over information.
That I take responsibility
For my health.
Physical. Emotional. Psychological.
Spiritual.
So impose you not a pseudo-science
Driven by a profiteering mafia
Who seeks to make me a client
From cradle to grave.
Look inside yourself
And ask
Is healing not the right of the individual?
Is your rôle not be a compassionate guardian
Whose covenant is with the patient?
